Don't feel you're served by the LCC?

I'm told that some people in the community don't feel that they benefit from the Lompico Community Center. The park is too far out of their way for them to use and that's all the LCC does.   My response is, if you don't put anything in to it, you're not going to get anything out of it.   The LCC is a small organization run by volunteers and funded by memberships and donations. We have a extremely tight budget so we tend to spend the money on our core property, the park. If we had more volunteers and money we could be doing much, much more.   There are many Grants available that would enable us to expand the services we provide to the community, but that takes people that know how to write grant proposals and are willing to donate their time to do it.   There are many projects that could be done, but that takes someone that's willing the drive the project, and others willing to put in the time, and find the money, to complete it. The Basketball court, bathroom, and pond clean-ups are just a couple of examples of projects that have been driven by a single board member and supported by the LCC.   A good example is the Lake Blvd repairs. The LLBRA was denied grant moneys because they weren't a legally recognised organization. Had the LCC been aproached, we would have worked with the Lake Blvd residents to secure whatever funding was available by leveraging the LCC's non-profit status.   So, instead of complaining that the LCC doesn't do anything for you, get involved.   Tell us what we can do, then help us do it!
