Lompico Park Parking Area

You may have noticed some cleanup happening across from the bus stop.

The last time I tried to level this area I ran into a concrete edge that, at the time, I thought was a curb. I later found out that it was actually the top of a retaining wall that had fallen over. This past Saturday I was able to uncover most of the retaining wall.

I'm told that this used to be where the Lompico Volunteer Fire Department had a carport structure for parking the fire trucks. (Side note: I'd be interested in any history or photos you may have about this)

What I'd like to do is fix/replace the retaining wall and fix the drainage problem (Which is most likely the reason the retaining wall failed.). I'd also like to extend the concrete to cover the whole pull-out area and then mark it with parking spaces. This will give us a nice smooth and clean surface to park our cars on.

Unfortunately I don't think I can do this by myself. I'm going to need some help evaluating the retaining wall and what it's going to take to fix or replace. I could also use help excavating, forming, pouring and finishing the concrete. If you have any expertise in these areas and are willing to advise, help with the grunt work and/or donate materials please contact me directly at DuaneD@lompicocc.org or by phone at 831-621-1749.
