WANTED - Pay PhoneAs you may have noticed we've lost our pay phone at the park. Last year AT&T removed their phone because they were getting out of the pay phone business. Now the company that replaced it has pulled their phone because it wasn't making enough money for them. We NEED a phone at the park. Cell reception is spotty at best and the next closest public phone is at Zayante Market. Our Children NEED a phone at the park. SLV School Bus driver, Erin, says her radio doesn't work in the canyon. The phone is the only way she can contact base if her bus breaks down and the only way children can contact a parent or friend when they're stuck at the bus stop. Erin carries quarters in case her kids need to call someone to pick them up. The LCC is willing to maintain a phone at the park but we need a phone. Pay phones run about $150 to $200 used on ebay but our budget is tight. It would be great if someone would donate a phone to the community. The phone needs to be a newer "smart" payphone, also known as a COCOT (Customer Owned Coin Operated Telephone). Please contact Duane Davis at 621-1749 if you can help us out. Phone purchased
I picked up a phone off ebay for $150. It should arrive in a few days and hopefully I'll be able to install it next week.
Donations to help with the purchase and the ongoing cost of the phone line are appreciated. Call charges will cover some, but not all, of the line costs.

Park Phone
The phone is in and, finally, programmed.
Service is limited to local calls only at this time. This may change if there is enough demand for long distance. I'm just trying to avoid the additional cost of having to periodically update the rate tables ($25 a shot).
