DISTRIBUTION OF YOUNG BROOK TROUT

FIRST CROP OF ONE MILLION TROUT FRY WILL ENRICH STREAMS OF COUNTY.

The work of distributing and planting on the streams of this county the first crop of 1,000,000 young brook trout propagated at the Brookdale fish hatchery this season was commenced Tuesday by County Game Warden C. A. Reed.

J. D. Hubbard of Sunnyside had the honor of taking charge of the first consignment ever sent out from the hatchery, some 15,000 fish, which he carefully conveyed over the top of Ben Lomond mountain and placed them in the head waters of Big Creek, not one fish of the whole lot being seemingly the worse for the trip.

Other consignments have since been sent to the Lompico, Zayante, Corralitos and other creeks for distribution. Later we have learned that the consignments sent to Eccles for the Zayante and Lompico creeks were left standing in the cans at Eccles, through the carelessness of a volunteer distributor, until they all died. -- Mountain Echo.
